Workshop Internship

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable workshop intern with good making skills and an eye for detail to start in April 2017 for 3 months.

It is essential that applicants have knowledge of working with wood, metal and plastics as well as using power tools. The job involves a large amount of manual handling and requires organisational and planning skills with the ability to problem solve. The applicant should be adaptable, flexible and have the ability to work under their own initiative as well as part of a team.

You will be in the workshop alongside other studio members assembling, wiring, and painting for projects within art and design disciplines. You will also be part of a team required to install design shows and exhibitions, as well as install a range of private and commercial projects.

Candidates will need to hold a valid passport as part of the role may include travelling to installations around the world.

Fluency in English is a prerequisite – other languages beneficial.

Preferred experience in:

  • Digital machinery: CNC, RP, Laser cutting
  • Typical workshop machinery
  • Industrial process
  • Model-making
  • Basic electronics

CAD experience essential. Preferred software experience:

  • Rhino
  • Solidworks
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • Indesign
  • Filemaker

We are looking for candidates with a portfolio of work which demonstrates capabilities of exploring and producing work in both 2D and 3D media, it is also preferential that if called for an interview you bring a variety of prototypes which demonstrate your understanding and experience of working with different mediums within a workshop environment.

 Job terms:

  • The internship complies with minimum wage requirements.
  • This is a 3 month fixed term contract
  • The position is available beginning of April 2017, and preference will be given to candidates who are immediately available
